The 32 second running of the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals Presented by Pennzoil brought with it the perfect conditions for nitro racing. John Force and Brittany Force came into race day as the number one qualifiers in Funny Car and Top Fuel. The Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) and Kalitta Motorsports teams knew they had their work cut out for them in Texas.
It came down to Robert Hight’s Chevy Camaro SS vs. Matt Hagan’s Dodge Charger Hellcat in the Funny Car final and Antron Brown’s Toyota-backed dragster vs Brittany Force’s Chevrolet-backed dragster. When it was all over, the fans on hand witnessed the third time in history John Force Racing won both nitro classes at the same event.
